The Standard Lisbon

Shaping Heritage, Without Limits of Scale

Within the iconic former Naval Hospital building in Alfama, currently being transformed into the future The Standard Lisbon, we contributed to a highly demanding technical and aesthetic intervention, where the scale of the project meets the precision of detail.

In partnership with Ecoarea, and through our brand Coral Atelier, we undertook the complete execution of exterior decorative elements, including mouldings, cornices, and pediment features, all meticulously custom-made from the architectural team’s designs.

The solution

We relied on specialised moulding and sculpting processes, enabling each piece to be accurately reproduced and adapted. Rather than a mere execution, the work involved interpreting the drawings, expanding solutions, and adjusting each element to the reality of the project.

Each component was individually developed, ensuring that—regardless of its scale or complexity—it integrates harmoniously and consistently within the architectural composition.

The challenge

The intervention required addressing the complexity of a large-scale historic building, while ensuring fidelity to its original architectural language and delivering technical performance suitable for exterior conditions.

Each element presented its own specificities (dimension, detail, and framing), requiring a rigorous approach to ensure formal coherence across the whole, without compromising strength, durability, and stability.

Conclusion

This project highlights Coral’s ability to operate at a large scale without compromising detail. From singular pieces to complete systems, we develop integrated solutions that restore identity, continuity, and sophistication to historic architecture, proving that artisanal precision can meet the demands of the most ambitious projects with excellence.
